Introduction
Win a business class ticket around the world, $100,000 and 80 days. All you have to do is show LG what you would do if you could LIVE BORDERLESS™. With this campaign LG wants to see what individuals from around the world would suggest doing if they won this ‘prize’. Different media is used to drive entrants to www.liveborderless.net, the campaign’s core website and a viral campaign is also used where LG chose to recreate a famous prairie dog and makes their own version where the little fellow escapes and goes on his own LIVE BORDERLESS™ journey.
At the campaign website, www.liveborderless.net, entrants can create online profiles before submitting an instant video entry or can enter using a written essay on their suggestions on what they would do with a round-the-world ticket, $100,000 and eighty days to travel. By March 2010, a short-list of six entries will be selected by visitors to the website; these six will then be brought to Dubai, UAE for a final round of selection via a judging panel. The selected winner then gets to take the journey they suggested, business class all the way with $100,000 in their back pocket.
The premise goes a little further than just a competition. With this campaign LG has a unique opportunity to study the social dynamics of the world. For example, LG will be able to reveal what country the most compassionate individuals come from; those that suggested using the money for the greater good of societies and individuals less fortunate than themselves. What is the overall trend of the world when presented with this opportunity – social responsibility or fun?
